Updated 07/24/2025
If you receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits in Nevada, it’s important to keep your address up to date with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to ensure you continue receiving important notices, documents, and benefit payments without interruption.
Find out if you qualify for SSDI benefits. Pre-qualify in 60 seconds for up to $4,018 per month and 12 months back pay.
Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.
1. Why You Should Update Your Address Promptly
Changing your address with SSA ensures:
- You receive benefit notices and reviews on time
- There are no disruptions to your direct deposit or mailed checks
- Your Medicare and SSA records remain accurate
Failing to update your address can lead to missed deadlines for appeals, medical reviews, or overpayment notices.
2. Ways to Change Your Address
You can update your address with SSA through several easy methods:
a. Online via My Social Security Account
- Log in to your My Social Security account at www.ssa.gov/myaccount.
- Click on “My Profile” and select “Update Contact Information.”
- Enter your new address and save the changes.
Note: If you do not have an account, you can create one by following the prompts on the SSA website. You may need to verify your identity for security purposes.
b. By Phone
- Call the SSA directly at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
- Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
- Have your Social Security number and identification information ready for verification.
c. In Person at Your Local SSA Office
- Visit your nearest Social Security office in Nevada.
- Bring a valid form of identification, such as your driver’s license or state ID.
- Explain to the representative that you need to update your address.
3. Updating Your Address with Medicare
If you’re also enrolled in Medicare, your address will automatically update in their records once you notify SSA, as SSA manages Medicare information.
4. When Will The Change Take Effect?
Your address change typically becomes effective immediately if updated online, or within a few days to a week if done by phone or in person. Always check your My Social Security account after a few days to ensure the update was processed correctly.
